Friday was our first day working with students and we started off at Gibson Elementary in Woodland. We had a hectic day of teaching, hastily shoving solar panels into panniers, racing around the Sacramento area by car, bike, and train, and finalizing details of our week’s route during each rare moment of downtime. All told, we lost one tent, missed one train, got five group hugs from ecstatic six-year-olds, made four kids cry, wolfed down two full plates of pasta (ok, Rachel and Johanna couldn’t quite keep up with Kelly on this one), and relaxed in one glorious hot tub...read on to find out what happened in between!
